Hello, my wife, Shawna, and I have attended Grace Baptist Church since 1998. In that time my family and I have been part of a loving church family that loves the truth of God's Word and loves the community of this church. We strive to see God glorified and for Him to be worshipped in Spirit and Truth. I am also the music minister and would love for you to come visit us! In Christ Alone!

One of my favorite songs says, "If you could see what I once was then I know you would see... a miracle of love that took me in its sweet embrace and made me what I am today... a sinner saved by grace."

That song says so well what drives me in my role as Husband, Father, Grandfather, and servant of my LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Lord called me into ministering to youth many years ago. I have been here at GBC with my wife, Sharon, raising our 3 children since 1996. I am now serving as the Pastor of Youth, as well as seeking to train and disciple young men and women in the service of the Lord.

"Let us also lay down every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith," - Hebrews 12:1-2a

To paraphrase John Newton:

I know two things. I am a great sinner, and Christ is a great Savior.

I am married to beautiful Becky, and we have three of our four children in our home. We have been attending GBC since we were married in 2000. I have served in various roles at Grace prior to becoming a pastor-elder.

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." -Philippians 1:6

I’ve come full circle. Laura and I left Grace in the spring of 2005 to serve internationally in a SE Asian country. We served in Tulsa at a church plant there and then in the UK as well. We returned to Grace in the fall of 2024. 

My heart’s desire is to see the church, locally and globally, obedient to the Great Commission. I count it an honor to encourage His body at Grace towards this as they are discipled and grow in their love of His Word.   

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:14-15

My wife Anita and I have attended Grace Baptist Church (GBC) since 2004. We have one son, Doyle, who lives in Houston with his wife, Sarah, and our two beautiful granddaughters, Charlotte and Vivian. In 2004, I had recently retired from the military and we were looking for a church with a vibrant and active youth ministry for Doyle who was 12 at the time. We found that at Grace. We also found a family of believers who love the LORD, love His Word, love His people and has a heart for worldwide missions. In fact, our purpose at GBC is to ignite a passion for the supremacy of Jesus Christ in all things, to all peoples, for the glory of God! We would love for you to come worship the LORD with us and be a part of our GBC family. In Christ Alone!

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Because of God’s grace, I have salvation and new life through Jesus Christ. I am filled with peace because of that living hope. I’m also blessed with my amazing wife, Mandi, and our two wonderful daughters. I’m humbled to be part of Grace Baptist and appreciate that the word of God is faithfully preached. I also manage our state scenic rivers and never cease to be amazed at the creativity and beauty that reveal God’s glory.  

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—" Ephesians 2:4-5
